How I work with you

First, we meet

The design process starts with a visit to your home and a discussion of long-term and short-term goals for your landscape. This meeting allows me to get to know you and your tastes. We discuss the scope of the project, including your wish list for your outdoor living spaces, views from the interior, timelines, and installation/maintenance budgets. This meeting usually takes around an hour. Shortly afterward, usually within a week, I present a proposal for your approval before proceeding to the design phase.

Second, I measure and analyze your landscape

During the site analysis, the property is photographed and measured, and existing conditions, plant material, grade, drainage, and climate conditions are noted.

Third, you receive design concepts

A short while later, a set of detailed design concepts (including built objects, paving, and plantings) is presented to you.  After you review the concept plans, I produce a master plan that incorporates any modifications, final details, and plant specifications.

Fourth, we build your garden

The installation process is crucial to the realization of the designed garden. The master plan and detailed construction drawings are sent to contractors for bidding. Once a contractor has been chosen, a meeting will be set up to review project details.   I will visit the project site as needed during the installation phase to check that expectations are being met.

Last, we keep it looking beautiful

Regular maintenance will allow the garden to reach its full potential. Recommendations will be given on specifics to keep your garden looking its best.

We can work in other ways

In addition to comprehensive design services, garden consultations are also available for the client with a garden in need of a fresh eye or to diagnose and suggest solutions for problem areas.
